Last night I decided to make tacos. I know it is not very gourmet, but at least I am trying to make dinner, right? I had already browned the hamburger and went to grab the Old El Paso taco seasoning and gasp - I was out!!
Now some of you who make everything from scratch (Sunny and Elizabeth) will find this post very funny. Others who are continuing to work on their cooking skills might appreciate this post.
Hmmm . . . . What should I do now?? So I ran to the computer to look for a recipe for taco seasoning.
Mark was soooo proud of the fact that I went straight for the internet. Then he went into a spill about how twenty years ago I wouldn't have been able to use the internet for a cooking solution yadda yadda
yadda . . . . (Seriously, are we that old that we are telling stories like that?)
I found a yummy and easy recipe! And even better I had all the spices on hand!!! As of last night, I have retired my trusty Old El Paso taco seasoning. I will share my "gourmet" taco seasoning recipe for those of you who also discover that you are out of taco seasoning one night.
2 tsp. minced onion
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. corn starch
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp. minced garlic
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
Mix all of the above together. Add it to the already cooked 1 lb. of hamburger. Then add 1/2 cup water. Let simmer for about 15 minutes.

YUM! That sounds great! I ran out of taco seasoning one night too.... I had NO idea what to do, so I figured garlic would do the trick. Oh no... it was gross. We smelled like garlic for days. Yours sounds yummy!
Such a resourceful young wife and mother. It sure does sound good. I will have to try it, but I am quite sure that I don't have all the spices on hand. HA!! Love, Mom
Why do you have some of those things on hand! Coming on for Christmas?
I'm so impressed with you! Funny enough--I am making tacos tonight. I do have seasoning, but if I ever want to make them impromptu, then I will know where to look for the recipe!
