Pumpkinville

My friend Sunny and I decided to take our kids to a pumpkin festival last week. This was the best picture of all the kiddos out of 8 pictures.


This area has several of these festivals, and we decided to try a new one this year. Last year we went to Cox Farms, and we realized that we were spoiled and nothing else will ever come close. However, we did have a blast and are glad that we went. Sunny was 9 months preggers (she is actually delivering baby Hudson today) so I got to ride all the slides and bouncy things with the kids. I know, I know she is going to owe me big time!

Yep, I am right behind them going all the way up. It was pretty steep and half way up Jackson got scared. So I ended up holding Jackson while trying to pull/climb our way up all while making sure Ella didn't fall backwards.


Jackson also enjoyed jumping around in a moon bounce. A couple of weekends ago we went to an art festival and Jackson saw a moon bounce. At the time he was a little too hesitant to join in all the fun, but the entire next week that was all he talked about. He was so excited to have another chance! This time around the moon bounce was completely empty except for our three little monkeys.



Jackson actually found another moon bounce that he just had to try out. (Read: I want to bounce or I am going to throw a tantrum like you have never seen.)


We also rode on a hay ride. I thought for sure that was going to send Sunny into labor!! We had to wait awhile for the tractor so Georgia took our pictures. (Sunny don't kill me it is just such a cute picture!)

We wrapped up the day with dinner at Sunny's. The kids had a little dinner party of their own enjoying Sunny's homemade pizza.


Hopefully the weather will eventually clear up and we can head back to Cox Farms for some more fall pumpkin fun!

Peanuts, Treenuts, Cats, Oh My!

Last week Jackson had an appointment with an allergist for the ever so fun scratch test. I have had a hunch that he is allergic to peanuts, eggs, and cats. When he licked a tiny amount of peanut butter around the age of two he got a rash around his mouth and his ears started itching. The same thing happened when he was helping me crack eggs while we were making cookies. However, I wanted to wait until he was three to get him tested. I knew at age three he could be tested for everything under the sun. I also knew by age three some kids outgrow their allergies.

So all of our suspicions came true. The scratch test revealed he is VERY allergic to peanuts as well as most tree nuts - cashews, hazelnuts, pistachios, and walnuts. As for eggs, it is just eggs in a concentrated form like a plate of scrambled eggs. Cookies, brownies, etc. are all okay. The last one is cats which we never plan on having pets anyway so no big deal. Neither Mark nor I nor our families have any history of food allergies, so I have no idea where this is coming from.It looks like from here on out, I am now one of those moms with an epi-pen and bendadryl on me at all times!!

For the past year, we have always told Jackson that peanuts will make him sick, so he is already used to it. He will ask, "Mommy, will this make me sick?"

I can't believe my sweet boy will never get to enjoy a Reece's peanut butter cup or a PB&J!

Jackson's Thoughts

M: "Jackson what to you want to dress up as for Halloween?"

J: "I don't want to dress up. I just want to be Jackson."

(Well this will be a easy costume to make)

Mark and I had a clumsy weekend. Mark hurt his little toe, and I hurt my ankle. For the rest of the weekend Jackson kept blowing our hurt limbs kisses and asking us if he needed to take us to the hospital. I hope he remembers wanting to take care of us when we are old and gray.

Jackson sometimes does the wiggling around tee tee dance when he doesn't want to stop playing and go to the bathroom. I will have to ask him to go to the bathroom, and once he is sitting on the potty he often says:

J: "Oh, that was the problem - I had to tee tee!"

The other day after preschool Jackson kept singing one line form the same song over and over -

J: " Ohhhh Miss Timber that's the one for me!!!"

For the life of me I couldn't figure out what song he was singing. So I emailed his teacher and finally figured out the song . . .

"Oh September that's the month for me.

I remember it's September and I'm happy as can be!"

Every morning as I am drying my hair . . .

J: "Moommmmaaa, shut the door you are being too loud!!!"

He just doesn't get the price we girls pay to took half way decent!

J: "Turn the music up, please."

M: "It is already to loud. If I turn it up it will hurt my ears."

J: "Please turn it up momma. I want to hurt your ears."

At least we listen to Christian music in the car! It is pretty cute to hear him hum and sing along to all these Christian songs. I guess I will just turn it up so we can dance and praise God all at the same time!

Fall Fun

Now that we live in a state that actually participates in Fall it has become one of my favorite times of the year. The weather has been perfect, and the leaves are just starting to turn colors. It is just beautiful! Yesterday we decided to walk to the park for an afternoon of fun. The trip to the park took a little longer than usual because of all the stops . . . .

We had to spend time trying to find the "most beautiful leaves ever."


After some time Jackson was finally proud to show off his collection of leaves.


On our stroll to the park we also passed several backyards with all kinds of fun looking toys scattered around. Jackson did not quite understand why we couldn't stop and play at each house. He would just stop and stare at the abandoned toys.


Of course we also played a short game of hide and seek.


We eventually made it to the park and had a blast climbing, swinging, and sliding. What a great way to spend a gorgeous fall day!!

Biggest Insult Ever

Two people in just one week told me I was losing my southern accent!!!!!! Can you believe the nerve? So I have decided to pack up and head south in two weeks to try and get it back! Oh, and the fact that I am dying to meet my sweet little niece Zoe doesn't really hurt either.
