Annual Kite Festival

As usual we trekked it down to DC for the annual Kite Festival during the Cherry Blossom Festival. It was postponed due to weather, but to be honest the weather wasn't that much better. At least is wasn't raining though, right? So basically these are the same pictures as all the previous years, we are all just a little older. And we had one more join us this time around.

He sleeps through all of his "firsts" but at least I have the pictures to prove he was actually there!

The older boys getting ready to fly the kite.

Here's the plan: Daddy will hold the kite while Jackson does all the running.

Run, Jackson, run!

Success!!

Well not for long . . . Oops!

Now that is more like it!

Next year we will have two runners to get that kite up in the air!

Braden's New Toy

I finally decided it was time to break out some of Jackson's old toys for Braden to enjoy. I think the little guy was starting to get tired of just staring at Jackson and I all day long. Jackson was kind enough to get it all set up for him after making a "mini tent" that he played in for about thirty minutes. (I think this might happen every time I drag out one of his old toys.)

Big brother had to point out all the different things hanging down and show him exactly how the music and lights work.

At first I think he might have been a bit overwhelmed. But now when he spends time down there, he kicks, talks, and gives us big smiles!

Huntley Meadows Park

Last weekend while Mark was playing golf, the boys and I headed to Huntley Meadows Park to enjoy the beautiful weather. This was our first time to visit, and I was pleasantly surprised!

Jackson was a great tour guide, stopping at each little post to make sure we were headed in the right direction.

We finally made it to the marsh land and the very long bridge.

We tried to spy as many different animals as we could, but we only saw some ducks. However, I am glad that we didn't run in to any snakes.

We did see evidence of a beaver's work but no beaver.

I pointed out this funny looking thing growing up some of the trees and asked Jackson what he thought it was. His response, "I think a monkey climbed up the tree and left some of his fur behind."

Of course we did take time out for a little photo shoot.

And in case you are wondering, Braden had a great time sleeping the entire time.

Jackson and I had walked so much that we decided to make a stop by Krispy Kreme for a donut on the way home. What a great way to end the day!

Interviewing for the Perfect Paci

I have decided that the baby needs a paci. The baby is being difficult and will not take a paci. So I headed out to Babies R Us and stocked up.

Surely one of these will work, right? Nope! Here's the winner . . . .

I didn't want a thumb/finger sucker, but what are you going to do? Jackson and I crack up, because you can hear him sucking on his hand in the next room. Now this might be hard to break, right Dee Dee?
