If you opt out of getting a $25 tree at Lowe's and venture out to Snickers Gap Tree Farm, here are some helpful hints.
1. Take a snack - it is a long drive.
2. Once you get there take time to take it all in. The farm is beautiful with trees in every direction.
3. Get your rope, saw, and map. Then head out in search of the perfect tree.

4. Go ahead and annoy your family by making them pose for at least a hundred pictures!
5. Since you are on a quest to find the perfect Christmas tree with a yellow tag (yellow tag = discount!), prepare to be there for awhile. You might even need to take a break and complain a little. But don't worry, good ole mom will tell you to buck up - this is fun!!!

6. Half way into your search for the tree, you will realize that you should have brought some type of measuring stick. You will lose sight of exactly how tall and full these trees are! You will snicker and think that this tree has the best chance of actually fitting into our house.

7. And then just when you are about to give up, lo and behold there it is . . . .

8. Stand back and watch your hubbie use a saw. After it is cut, go ahead and trim another 3 feet off the bottom, so it will hopefully fit into your house.
9. Then start dragging that thing back up to the parking lot to pay for it. You might as well even let kids join in on all of the fun.

10. After gasping at the price of your perfect "discounted" tree, tie it to the top of the car.
11. Then pray for the following . . .
- that the tree does not fall off the car on the way back to the city
- that it will actually fit into your house
- that no squirrels have chosen your tree as their home

The Griswold"s in DC... Who would have thought it. I must admit that I chuckled all through this one. I could just imagine all the comments from Mark and Jackson. HA!! Now that was a huge tree. You are right, you do lose track of exactly how tall tall really is. HA!! Glad there were no squirrels riding home with you.. I love it... FUN.. FUN.. Love, DeeDee
Funny! Tree farms were fun until it was all left up to me! I can hear the boys comments now. Of course, I do love live, beautiful trees. Do they ship to Mississippi? Love Emmy
