Christmas Cookies for Santa

Jackson and I made our traditional sugar cookies for Santa the other day. I got the recipe from a friend, and my oh my they are the best darn sugar cookies ever. Yummmy! I hope we still have some left for Santa.

Jackson really wanted to help this year instead of just eating the icing. He did a great job of rolling out the dough after a short little lesson.

He made sure to make a star, tree, stocking, gingerbread man, and bell every time we rolled out the dough.


Next up was the icing. I made red and green but let Jackson pick the third color. Any guesses on what color he chose . . . . yep, orange - his favorite!

The cookies turned out yummy, but I need a lesson on making them look a little cuter. Oh well, I am sure Santa won't mind!

Best Sugar Cookies

Cookies
1 c softened butter
1 c sugar
3 oz. cream cheese
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Frosting
3 c powdered sugar
1/3 c butter
2 tbsp. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add cream cheese and mix until smooth. Add egg and vanilla. Then mix in flour and salt. Refrigerate 1-2 hours before rolling. Bake 375 for 7-8 minutes. Then frost.
