Dinosaurs and Butterflies

Jackson and I headed downtown to visit the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History to visit the dinosaur and butterfly exhibits. Parking can sometimes be a challenge down on the mall, so Jackson and I said a little parking prayer. God answered it with parking right in front of the museum - can I get a Amen and a Woo Hoo!! It just reminds me that God likes to be invited in to even the small parts of our lives and just not the "big" things.

I promise he is having a good time!

Jackson is learning more dinosaur facts so that he out smart his momma. Or he just likes pushing buttons.

After looking at all the big dinosaurs, eating our snack as mom pushed Jackson around (does he truly know how good he has it?), we headed up to the butterfly exhibit. You can walk through a room (an extremely humid room) with all kinds of butterflies just flapping all around your head. They hand you a chart, and you can try to identify all the different types. Jackson was a little freaked out for the first couple of minutes, but after that he began his butterfly hunt. Before leaving the room you get searched for any butterfly runaways that might be hiding on you! The best part of this butterfly exhibit is that it is free on Tuesdays. Every other day it costs $5 per person to "walk with the butterflies" - ummm not so much!

We saw all sorts of cool butterflies, but I have no idea their names. I guess I should have studied that chart a little more instead of making sure Jackson didn't stop on a butterfly or pull their wings.

We will definitely be heading back to check out the dinosaurs and butterflies. Anyone want to come with us?
