grow up to be this little guy so quickly?
Anyway, Jackson's first day of school was August 29. On our way to the auditorium, we stopped for a quick picture out front. Jackson was complaining about it and another mom said, "See my eighth grader still has to take the first day of school picture in front of the ICS sign." That made it easier for him to strike a pose with a smile. He also knew that I would keep taking pictures until I got a good one.
Just one more before heading inside!
Instead of going straight to the classroom, we all gathered for an assembly with the whole school. It was so refreshing to start the school year with a couple songs of worship and a prayer! Next it was time to head to the K-B classroom (otherwise knows as the Bumblebees) with Mrs. McCoy and Mrs. Olson. The week before we had a class play-date and meet the teacher night, so hopefully that helped calm some of the nerves.
Jackson was carefully listening to his next set of instructions while sitting criss cross applesauce. We will see how long that lasts . . . .
Before we said our final goodbyes, we got to have snack together. Over the summer the parents got together and made these picture collages. We had fun looking back at all the fun we had over the summer. And then it was time . . . Jackson kept saying he had something in his eyes and to be honest I did too! But somehow we both managed to survive the day!
I am not sure who was more excited to pick up Jackson from school - me or Braden. Braden had asked all day, "Where Ja Jack? Where Ja Jack? Where Ja Jack?" When I told him it was time to go get Ja Jack, he grabbed his shoes and ran to the door!
The first day was a success! He was even excited about going back until he found out it was a full day. The second day was a little tougher - let's just say he was very nervous, I had to leave, and I bawled the entire way home. When I went to pick him, he was exhausted from being there from 8:30 til 3:15. By the third day we both were okay, but I still couldn't wait to get in that carpool line to snatch him up. He had another great day and talked the entire way home! So far it looks like it is going to be a great year. Let's just hope that after the three day weekend we can jump right back into the swing of things.
PS - I am officially a carpool mom - sticker and all!

That is great that they let the parents participate in the first day. He is so grown up, and time will fly even faster now. I hope Jackson can adjust to all day pretty soon. It is a long time, even for me! Love, Emmy
We can not believe that our little Jackson is now a big kindergartener. It really is hard on "Everyone", but we know he will do great. Nice to hear they get to pray and sing church songs, so very important. We are very proud of our young man. Give him loves, PaPa and DeeDee
