POTTY TRAINED!!!
(but every once in awhile we still have a poopey accident - yuck!)
(but every once in awhile we still have a poopey accident - yuck!)
After a couple of weeks of talking about this whole potty thing and picking out our new Thomas and Cars underwear (he even asked one of his friends what is on their underwear) we decided to go full steam ahead and not look back! I thought it was going to be a very long process because in the beginning Jackson would not even sit on the potty. He would scream and do his best impression of a long straight board. So how was I to get him to sit on the potty? A Potty Bag!! I filled a bag with toys that he could only play with while sitting on his potty. Bingo - it worked like a charm! But still no tee tee in the potty. The first two days, I thought I was going to die. I have never cleaned up so much tee tee in my life. Thank goodness for hard wood floors! Day three and four we had some success (by success I mean me holding a screaming Jackson on the potty - but at least the tee tee went in the potty) but still a few accidents. Day five was like the light finally clicked on along with the discovery that he would tee tee for m&ms!!
**Side note: Mark came up with the m&m idea on day 5, so he is basically taking credit for potty training. Why oh why didn't I think of m&ms?!?! Oh I remember why - I was cleaning up tee tee all week, doing loads of laundry, and getting Jackson to just sit on the potty!! I do think I deserve most of the credit - don't you?**
For several weeks now we are accident free. He is even telling me he has to go and waking up dry. It was a long 5 days, but he did it! We are all so proud of him and his big boy "underwears"!!
Now, how do I get him to tee tee standing up? I guess I will hand this one over to his daddy and give him FULL credit for this accomplishment!

I told Mark he needed to assist with the potty training and "demonstrate", so maybe he can do that now and finish the process. It seems that maybe we used M&Ms years ago. Ainslee's nickname for me now is M&M! Anyway, great job. Jackson is a fast learner!

Dude, I want a potty bag and m&m's! So glad Jackson didn't ask me what was on my underwear the other day ;-)
Congrats Jackson! Can you teach Caden now? These blow outs are disgusting.
Atta Boy, Jackson! PaPa and DeeDee are sooooo very proud of you and those big boy "underwears". We knew you could "do it". Tell PaPa when your M&Ms run out. By the way, Daddy, it sounds like you have been issued a challenge. Good luck, we will wait for the next "potty" installment. Love you all, PaPa and DeeDee
Now, this isn't a testimony, as we are still at the sitting-on-the-potty-when-mom-thinks-about-it stage... however, I have been pondering the "standing" issue and heard someone saying someing about having them shoot at cheerios in the potty. Rush isn't tall enough at this stage, but I think Mark would be at the perfect height to demonstrate this GREAT tip for Jackson! :)
I'm so impressed! I hope things go so easily with Rush!!
